Her paintings begin with spontaneous brushstrokes, letting the background unfold intuitively. She then steps back and reflects on what’s emerged before drawing something intentional within the abstract layers she’s created. As a young woman, she often finds herself questioning how much freedom is too much before feeling lost, and how much control is too much before feeling trapped. Jamie's paintings are a constant attempt to balance these opposing emotions, a reminder that both can coexist, and that within this coexistence, life and art feel most honest.
